How Userlane and Microsoft Copilot are transforming employee support and productivity

Announcing the Userlane Agent for Microsoft Copilot: Enabling real-time, contextual guidance across the enterprise.
Enterprises are embracing AI assistants like Microsoft Copilot to enhance productivity across strategic software. But they continue to face two key challenges:
- Low AI assistant adoption that lags behind expectations
- A lack of context that limits the impact AI Assistants can deliver
The new Userlane Agent for Microsoft Copilot brings a powerful new functionality:
Employees can now access Userlane content directly in Microsoft Copilot, which guides them step-by-step through workflows in key applications. This also expands the value of Microsoft Copilot beyond the Microsoft ecosystem, as it lets Microsoft Copilot support users in any web-based application.
The Userlane Agent for Microsoft Copilot is one of the first use cases leveraging the new Userlane MCP Server to connect Userlane’s content and context with other agents and AI assistants.
What is MCP – and why does it matter?
Developed by Anthropic, the Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that allows platforms like Userlane to provide structured, real-time context to AI assistants.
With MCP, enterprise systems can:
- Share semantic data such as user role, app state, and task metadata
- Enable AI to deliver responses grounded in actual workflows, not generic suggestions
- Ensure extensibility, security, and interoperability at scale
Our new architecture allows AI assistants and agents, like Microsoft Copilot, to retrieve the right Userlane content based on what users are doing or asking.
That means our guidance can be accessed wherever employees seek help, contextually triggered by intent, seamlessly surfaced via AI.
Userlane in Microsoft Copilot
Thanks to our MCP Server, you can now build a Userlane Agent in Microsoft Copilot Studio and deploy it across your Copilot environments. Once deployed, the Userlane Agent can be triggered by Copilot depending on the user’s question.
Here’s what it looks like:
- After a successful lead qualification call, a user asks Copilot in Teams: “How do I convert a lead to an opportunity in Salesforce?”
- Copilot routes the request to the Userlane Agent, which retrieves the relevant Userlane Guide
- In its response to the user, Copilot uses the context of the Userlane Agent and returns a link to the Userlane Guide – one click opens Salesforce, and the Guide launches automatically.
No tickets. No waiting. No training fatigue. Just real-time, in-context help.
Why this matters for CIOs and digital leaders
This isn’t just a feature, it’s a glimpse into the future of AI orchestration across the enterprise.
With Userlane’s Copilot Agent, organizations can:
- Connect AI questions to guided execution, not just answers.
- Enable Copilot to serve as a real-time entry point into enterprise workflows.
- Build on open standards like MCP to future-proof AI integration strategies.
- Turn software investment into measurable outcomes across the full enterprise stack.
From intent to impact, with one click.
The Userlane Copilot Agent transforms AI from reactive helper to proactive enabler, driving ROI, efficiency, and confidence across the digital workplace.
